Softball Recap: Dexter's Luck Changes for the Better on Friday

Dexter can bid farewell to their six-game losing streak thanks to their game on Friday. They blew past the Bell City Cubs 18-7. The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for the Bearcats considering their two-run performance the matchup before.

Ava Schaefer made a splash while hitting and pitching. She pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Schaefer was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with two runs, one double, and one RBI.

In other batting news, Merideth Benton and Julianna Hervoyavich did most of the damage at the plate: Benton went a perfect 3-for-3 with three runs, two doubles, and one stolen base, while Hervoyavich went 1-for-3 with two stolen bases, three runs, and two RBI. Another player making a difference was Raychel Robison, who went 2-for-4 with three stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI.

Dexter kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. That's the most hits they've managed all season.

Dexter's victory bumped their record up to 2-7. As for Bell City, their loss dropped their record down to 0-4.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Dexter will welcome Richland at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Bell City, they will get a bit of extra time to process the defeat as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Puxico at 4:30 p.m. on the 20th.
