Baseball Recap: John Paul the Great Academy Starts Season with Win at Home

John Paul the Great Academy gave their fans exactly what they wanted out of a home opener on Tuesday. Their pitcher stepped up to hand the First Baptist Christian Eagles a 20-0 shutout. The win continues a trend for the Guardians in their matchups with the Eagles: they've now won three in a row.

Jacob Angelle was a standout: he scored three runs and stole three bases while going 2-for-2. Those three runs gave him a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Maximus Stewart, who scored three runs and stole two bases while getting on base in all three of his plate appearances.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. John Paul the Great Academy will host Alexandria Homeschool Arts & Athletics at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for First Baptist Christian, they will welcome Acadiana Christian at 6:00 p.m. on February 18th.
