Softball Game Preview: Whitwell Tigers vs. Gordonsville Tigers

Whitwell is 0-6 against Gordonsville since March of 2016 but things could change on Friday. Whitwell will venture away from home to challenge Gordonsville.

Whitwell is headed into Friday's match looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their fourth straight game on Wednesday. They were a single run away from ending the streak, but they lost a 2-1 heartbreaker at the hands of South Pittsburg. That's two games in a row now that the Tigers have lost by just one run.

Whitwell saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Kasie Britton, who went 1-for-3 with one triple and one RBI. That triple was Britton's first of the season.

Meanwhile, Gordonsville waltzed into their game on Wednesday with 23 straight wins... but they left with 24. Everything went their way against the Red Devils as they made off with a 12-1 win. The result was nothing new for the Tigers, who have now won 19 contests by six runs or more so far this season.

Gordonsville's victory was their eighth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 31-2. Those road wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.4 runs on average over those games. As for Whitwell, their defeat dropped their record down to 6-13.
