Basketball Game Preview: Sahuarita Mustangs vs. Rio Rico Hawks

The Sahuarita Mustangs will head out on the road to challenge the Rio Rico Hawks at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.

On Friday, Sahuarita came up short against Walden Grove and fell 58-51. The Mustangs have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Meanwhile, Rio Rico was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their fifth straight defeat. They fell 79-66 to Amphitheater.

Sahuarita will need to focus on slowing down Santiago Merino, one of several Rio Rico players who made an impact when they last played. He posted 22 points and five rebounds. The match was Merino's fourth in a row with at least 15 points. Another player making a difference was Ramsess Bolivar, who went 6 of 11 en route to 14 points and five assists.

Rio Rico's loss dropped their record down to 2-21. As for Sahuarita, their defeat dropped their record down to 11-15.

Everything came up roses for Sahuarita against Rio Rico in their previous meeting two weeks ago, as the team secured a 75-46 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for Sahuarita since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
