Softball Recap: Johnson Beats Caldwell for Their Fifth Straight Victory

Johnson never let their opponents score on Wednesday. Everything went their way against the Caldwell Chiefs as they made off with a 7-0 victory. Considering the Crusaders have won seven matches by more than five runs this season, Wednesday's blowout was nothing new.

The win (which was Johnson's fifth in a row) raised their record to 14-2. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.0 run on average over those games. As for Caldwell, their defeat dropped their record down to 7-9-1.

Johnson and Caldwell should be looking forward to their upcoming games as both have a sizable advantage in the MaxPreps New Jersey Rankings. The Crusaders (ranked 13th) will meet Verona (ranked 82nd) at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. Meanwhile, Caldwell will square off against Clifton at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday with a big rank advantage (119 vs. 243).
