Volleyball Recap: Clear Falls Comes Up Short

Clear Falls was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They took a 3-1 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Friendswood Mustangs. The Knights were not able to make up for their loss to the Mustangs from their previous meeting back in August of 2024.

Clear Falls started the match hot and won the first set, but they struggled down the stretch and lost the last three. The final score came out to 26-28, 25-19, 25-8, 25-11.

Despite the defeat, Clear Falls saw an underclassman step up: freshman Cabrina Vanderford had 13 digs and two aces. Those 13 digs set a new season-high mark for Vanderford. Sophie Flores also deserves some recognition as she had her first kill of the season.

Friendswood was led to victory by Haley Patton and Ashley Adams. Patton had 17 digs and six assists, while Adams had ten digs and five assists. That's the most assists Patton has posted over her last nine games.

Clear Falls' loss dropped their record down to 8-7. As for Friendswood, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 11-4 record this season.

Clear Falls didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 2-0 defeat against St. John's on the 23rd. As for Friendswood, they have also already played their next game, a 2-0 victory against Needville on the 23rd.
