Basketball Game Preview: Elkhorn South Storm vs. Omaha North Vikings

An exciting North v. South battle is about to be fought. The Elkhorn South Storm will square off against the Omaha North Vikings at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty point totals in their previous games.

Last Tuesday, Elkhorn South earned a 70-61 win over Benson. With that victory, the Storm brought their scoring average up to 51.1 points per game.

Elkhorn South's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Liv Schieber, who went 8 for 18 on her way to 20 points in addition to five rebounds and three steals. Another player making a difference was Aimee Burke, who went 5 of 8 en route to 16 points.

Meanwhile, Omaha North can bid farewell to their six-game losing streak thanks to their game on Thursday. They snuck past Gretna with a 61-56 victory.

Elkhorn South is also on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four matchups, which provided a massive bump to their 3-8 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 67.5 points per game. As for Omaha North, their win ended a four-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 3-7.

Elkhorn South beat Omaha North 58-50 in their previous meeting back in December of 2024. Will Elkhorn South repeat their success, or does Omaha North have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
