Baseball Recap: Firelands Takes a Loss

Firelands suffered their closest defeat since May 11, 2024 on Thursday. They fell just short of the Columbia Raiders by a score of 3-1. The Falcons have struggled against the Raiders recently, as the game was their third consecutive lost meeting.

Firelands saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Noah Thompson, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base, one double, and one RBI. That double was Thompson's first of the season.

Firelands now has a losing record of 4-5. As for Columbia, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 5-2.

Looking ahead, Firelands will square off against Perkins at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday. As for Columbia, they will venture away from home to face off against Black River at 1:00 p.m. on Friday. The Raiders' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Pirates have averaged an impressive 8.8 runs per game this season.
