There wasn't a ton of movement in the power rankings this week, but there was certainly enough to keep things interesting. That and more in this week's report.
Can't Touch This
Owensboro's 47 - 6 win over Graves County last week had a lot to do with the leadership of junior Imonte Owsley. Owsley rushed for 148 yards and three touchdowns. In fact, our algorithms singled out Owsley as one of the top players in the power rankings for the week.
This Week's Big Showdown
On paper, the match between South Warren (3rd in the power rankings) and Bowling Green (11th) looked as though it might be one of the more compelling ones, but things did not play out that way on the field. South Warren had all the answers against Bowling Green, winning 38 - 12. The victory raised South Warren up three spots in the power rankings.
Can't Stop Won't Stop
Anderson County has been an offensive powerhouse for seven straight weeks after the team lit up the scoreboard again last week. It breezed past Madison Southern with a final score of 40 - 7. Anderson County was heavily favored coming into this contest, and the results showcase why. With ten consecutive wins, Anderson County boasts the longest winning streak of any team in the rankings.
Next Week's Big Game
The big showdown in the power rankings this week is between Belfry (20th in the power rankings) and Johnson Central (9th). The two teams are sauntering into the matchup backed by comfortable wins in their prior games. Johnson Central and Belfry both have plenty of landslide victories under their belts (Johnson Central with seven and Belfry with six), but only one can come away triumphant this week. We'll find out who that is soon.
