After a string of nine wins, University Lab's good fortune finally ran out  on Thursday. They fell  12-8 to the Catholic Bears. The pitching woes were  uncharacteristic for the Cubs, who until this  match were averaging 3.26  runs allowed.
University Lab got a good showing from  Grant Sunstrom, who   pitched four innings while giving up just two earned  (and one unearned) runs off   three  hits.
 On the hitting side,  Shepard Gammon was cooking despite his team's loss,   going 1-for-4 with one  home run and four  RBI. Another player making a difference was  Lane Mixon, who  scored two  runs while going 3-for-4.
University Lab's loss dropped their record down to 19-8. As for Catholic, they are  on a roll lately: they've  won 15 of their last 16 games. That's provided a nice bump to their 24-4 record  this season.
 Both  squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. University Lab will face off against Ascension Catholic at 1:00  p.m.  on Saturday. As for Catholic, they will challenge St. Michael at 5:00  p.m.  on Friday.
