Baseball Recap: Lakeview Comes Up Short

Lakeview extended their losing streak to six on Monday, dropping them down to 11-12. They lost 15-1 to the North Caddo Titans. Having soared to a lofty 11 runs in the game before, the Gators couldn't push the score so high this time.

As for North Caddo, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 9-13-1. The result was nothing new for the Titans, who have now won seven games by nine runs or more so far this season.

For North Caddo's part, Jon Austin and Michael Stevens made a splash no matter where they played. Throwing, Austin tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Meanwhile, Stevens tossed two innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits. Austin also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because North Caddo is 4-2 when he allows at most one earned run, but 5-11-1 otherwise. At the plate, Austin got on base in three of his four plate appearances with two runs, one stolen base, and one double, while Stevens got on base in two of his four plate appearances with two runs. Austin is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged at least one in each of the last four games he's played.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Holt Tunstall, who went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, three RBI, and one run. North Caddo is undefeated when Tunstall posts two or more stolen bases, but 6-13-1 otherwise. Bentley Austin also deserves some recognition as he brought in his first RBI of the season.

Coming up, Lakeview will take on St. Mary at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for North Caddo, they will head out on the road to take on Union Parish at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Farmers have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 12.29 runs per game on average), something the Titans will no doubt try to take advantage of.
