Preview: Bovina Mustangs vs. Highland Park Hornets
Bovina is 4-0 against Highland Park since December of 2022, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Friday. The Bovina Mustangs will be playing at home against the Highland Park Hornets at 6:00 p.m. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.
Last Tuesday, things could have been worse for Bovina, but they could have been a whole lot better as they took a 48-32 loss to Panhandle. Bovina has struggled against Panhandle recently, as their contest on Tuesday was their eighth consecutive lost matchup.
The loss doesn't tell the whole story though, as several players had good games. One of the most active was Daniel Herrera, who scored five points along with ten rebounds and three blocks. It was the first time this season that he posted two or more blocks. Miguel Lopez was another key contributor, scoring nine points along with three steals.
Meanwhile, Highland Park's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their fourth straight loss. Their rough 62-40 loss to Panhandle might stick with them for a while.
Bovina has been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 11-18 record this season. As for Highland Park, their loss was their fourth straight at home, which dropped their record down to 8-20.
Bovina strolled past Highland Park in their previous matchup back in January by a score of 43-27. Will Bovina repeat their success, or does Highland Park have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
