League recap: Lewis breaks off league-leading run for Cesar Chavez

Cesar Chavez's Melvin Lewis recorded the longest rushing play in I Section II this season in his game against Millennium last week. Lewis ran for 80 yards on the play and finished with 112 on the day as his team lost to the Tigers.

Adding to the longest winning streak in the league this week, Westview beat Maryvale 63-0. The win marks 10th in a row for the the Knights.

Damian Alarcon threw for 303 yards and 5 touchdowns. He was 8-11 with 1 interception.

JT Moore was a key player and the best on defense this week as Valley Vista beat North. The 6-foot-0 senior racked up 1 sack.

Duane Dorsey was the best running back in the league this week. In 25 carries, he ran for 139 yards as Millennium bested the Mustangs. Teammate Adam Tamayo added to the ground attack by rushing for 25 yards.

Valley Vista's Alarcon and Juniel have formed a dream team this season, leading I Section II in both passing and receiving yards. 6-3 quarterback Alarcon has thrown for 1,923 yards this season, while Juniel has 57 catches for 1,104 yards. Westview's Jalen Johnson leads the league in rushing yards with 1,465.

Jeff Bowen's team took down the Panthers 63-0 last week, the largest margin of any game. Johnson ran for 124 yards during the win.
