On the hitting side, Briar Goda and Austin Black did most of the damage at the plate: Goda went 2-for-5 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs, while Black went 1-for-3 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs. Those four RBI gave Black a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Parker Higham, who went 2-for-3 with two runs, one double, and one RBI.
Terre Haute North Vigo always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .622. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
Meanwhile, Bloomington North earned a 7-2 victory over Terre Haute South Vigo on Thursday.
The team relied heavily on Chris Barnett, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with two stolen bases and two runs. Bloomington North is 8-2 when Barnett posts two or more runs, but 7-8 otherwise. The team also got some help courtesy of Will Breedlove, who went 2-for-3 with three RBI and one double.
Terre Haute North Vigo's win bumped their record up to 17-8. As for Bloomington North, their victory bumped their record up to 15-10.
Terre Haute North Vigo beat Bloomington North 7-4 in their previous matchup back in April. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Patriots since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
