Baseball Recap: Thursday's Victory Is Nazareth's Ninth in Last Ten Outings

Nazareth had already proven themselves in the regular season and they didn't miss a beat now that it's playoff time. Everything went their way against the Borden County Coyotes on Thursday as they made off with a 14-1 victory. Considering the Swifts have won ten contests by more than seven runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.

Breck Proctor made a big impact no matter where he played. He struck out ten batters over five innings while giving up just one earned run off four hits (and only one walk). He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in four consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with three runs, one stolen base, and one double.

In other batting news, Zane Schulte was a standout: he got on base in three of his four plate appearances with two stolen bases, two runs, and one triple. Trapper Neill was another key player, getting on base in all four of his plate appearances with three stolen bases, three runs, and one RBI.

Nazareth hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. The team has now struck out at least five batters in seven consecutive matchups.

Nazareth has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won nine of their last ten games. That's provided a nice bump to their 13-2 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 16.3 runs over those games. As for Borden County, they are on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-10-1.

Nazareth will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Coyotes: the pair will be back at it again later today.
