Basketball Recap: Seth Cronin and Isaac Hodges Secure Win for Ritchie County

Ritchie County's and Wirt County's game on Friday was close at halftime, but Ritchie County turned on the heat in the second half with 47 points. The Ritchie County Rebels put the hurt on the Wirt County Tigers with a sharp 73-48 victory. For the Rebels, this counts as revenge for the 48-45 win the Tigers walked away with the last time they faced one another back in January.

Leading Ritchie County to victory were Isaac Hodges and Seth Cronin. Hodges dropped a double-double on 21 points and 15 rebounds, while Cronin went 10 of 18 from beyond the arc on his way to 38 points. Hodges is on a roll when it comes to points, as he's now scored 15 or more in the last 12 games he's played dating back to last season. The team also got some help courtesy of Rhett Johnson, who posted six points and six assists.

Ritchie County was working as a unit and finished the game with 21 assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Wirt County only racked up 13 assists.

When it comes to explaining why Wirt County lost, don't look at Braylan Dawson. Despite the final result, he went 8 of 15 on his way to 22 points and four steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Tyler Smith, who put up seven points and six boards.

The victory made it two in a row for Ritchie County and bumps their season record up to 2-0. As for Wirt County, they dropped their record down to 0-4 with the defeat, which was their seventh straight at home dating back to last season.

Ritchie County wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 64-57 loss against Braxton County on the 23rd. As for Wirt County, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 65-55 win against Gilmer County on the 27th.
