Football Recap: Hunter Wolverines vs. Murray Spartans

Hunter won a close one the last time they played, but unfortunately they suffered a serious change of fortune on Friday. They lost 41-20 to the Murray Spartans. The Wolverines were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Spartans apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in August of 2023.

Hunter's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Siaosi Koloamatangi, who rushed for 107 yards and a touchdown on only eight carries. Koloamatangi got the majority of those rushing yards when he took off on a run and that went for an incredible 68 yards. Another back making a difference was Pasivulangi "Pasi" Havea, who gained 63 total yards and two touchdowns.

Among those leading the charge was Phil Holland, who threw for 86 yards and four touchdowns. Spencer Bushman was in the mix as well, providing Murray with two touchdowns.

Hunter now has a losing record at 1-2. As for Murray, their win ended a six-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 1-2.

Hunter will head out to square off against Fremont at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Murray, they will take on Jordan at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Murray is facing Jordan at the right time seeing as Jordan is stuck on a three-game losing streak.
