Baseball Recap: Hudson Extends Winning Streak to Four

Hudson had already won three in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 4 runs) and they went ahead and made it four on Thursday. They walked away with a 5-2 win over the Groton-Dunstable Crusaders. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 9-4 back in April.

Jake Attaway was a major factor no matter where he played. On the mound, he struck out ten batters over seven innings while giving up just two earned runs off eight hits (and only one walk). Those ten strikeouts gave him a new career-high. He was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run. He also put up a double, which was his first of the season.

Attaway wasn't the only one making solid contact as five players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Jackson Wood, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base and two RBI. Those two RBI gave Wood a new career-high. Another was Logan Dome, who went 2-for-3 with two runs.

Hudson's victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 9-5. Those home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.0 runs over those games. As for Groton-Dunstable, the loss snapped their winning streak at three games and leaves them with a 5-6 record.

Coming up, Hudson will look to defend their home field on Monday against Fitchburg at 7:00 p.m. As for Groton-Dunstable, they will venture away from home to face off against Shepherd Hill Regional at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
