Softball Game Preview: Chatfield Gophers vs. Kasson-Mantorville Komets

The Chatfield Gophers will challenge the Kasson-Mantorville Komets at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Chatfield is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 8.3 runs per game this season.

Chatfield is coming in off a wild two-game stretch: after soaring to 11 runs on Thursday, they were much more limited against St. Charles on Tuesday. They lost 7-1 to the Fighting Saints. The Gophers have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Chatfield saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Brittin Ruskell, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base and one run.

Meanwhile, it may have taken nine innings to finish the job, but Kasson-Mantorville ultimately got the result they hoped for on Monday. They had just enough and edged out Byron 6-5. The victory was nothing new for the Komets as they're now sitting on four straight.

Chatfield's loss dropped their record down to 13-4. As for Kasson-Mantorville, their win bumped their record up to 9-6.
