Basketball Recap: Mt. Zion Takes a Loss

Mt. Zion was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their ninth straight loss dating back to last season. They were outmatched by the Central Lions and fell 78-38. The Eagles lost against the Lions in their previous head to head back in December of 2024, too, but the margin this time around was even wider than the 63-57 score last time.

When it comes to explaining why Mt. Zion lost, don't look at Caleb Sims. Despite the final result, he posted 16 points. Daven Suttle was another key player, putting up seven points.

Mt. Zion's defeat dropped their record down to 0-8. As for Central, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 4-4.

Looking ahead, Mt. Zion and LaGrange will face off at 5:30 p.m. on Friday without much rest, having both just played. The Eagles will be up against the Grangers' rather soft defense (which has allowed 50.5 points per contest), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance. As for Central, they won't have much time to rest: their next game is against River Ridge at 8:30 p.m. on Friday.
