Softball Game Preview: Lassen Grizzlies vs. West Valley Eagles

The Lassen Grizzlies will square off against the West Valley Eagles at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.

West Valley will be up against a hot Lassen team: the squad just extended their winning streak to three. The Grizzlies put the hurt on Anderson with a sharp 14-1 win on Tuesday. That's two games straight that the Grizzlies have won by exactly 13 runs.

Kiki Cisneros tossed a big game, striking out eight batters over five innings while giving up just one earned run off four hits. Those eight strikeouts gave her a new career-high.

On the hitting side, Patty Carvalho was incredible, getting on base in all four of her plate appearances with three RBI, two runs, and one double. Delilah Delgado was another key player, going 2-for-4 with two runs and two RBI.

Lassen always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .533. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Anderson only posted an OBP of .278.

Meanwhile, it's playoff time, and West Valley had no trouble coming through when it counted. They were the clear victors by a 14-2 margin over Yreka on Friday. The victory continues a trend for the Eagles in their matchups with the Miners: they've now won four in a row.

West Valley's win bumped their record up to 15-8. As for Lassen, their victory bumped their record up to 18-9.

Lassen skirted past West Valley 8-7 in their previous meeting last Friday. Will the Grizzlies repeat their success, or do the Eagles have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
