Baseball Recap: Bethel Sets Scoring Season-High Against Spanaway Lake

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Bethel). They were the clear victors by a 12-2 margin over the Spanaway Lake Sentinels on Wednesday. The win continues a trend for the Bison in their matchups with the Sentinels: they've now won seven in a row.

Jacob Vance made a splash while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run while striking out nine over five innings pitched. Those nine strikeouts gave him a new career-high. He was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with one double and one RBI.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Keegan Peck, who went 2-for-3 with two doubles, two RBI, and one run. Those two doubles gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Tanner Millspaugh, who went 1-for-4 with two runs and two RBI.

Bethel hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their strikeout total in three consecutive games.

Bethel's record now sits at 4-13. As for Spanaway Lake, their defeat was their tenth straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 0-16.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Bethel will take on Sumner at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. The Spartans' pitching crew has only allowed 2.9 runs per game this season, so the Bison's hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Spanaway Lake, they will host Rogers at 4:00 p.m. on Friday.
