Softball Recap: Danbury's Loss Ends Four-Game Winning Streak at Home

Danbury dropped their record down to 11-3 on Saturday, which also ended the team's four-game streak of wins at home. They fell just short of the Norwalk Bears by a score of 5-4. If the Hatters were looking for revenge after losing 5-4 to the Bears when the teams met back in May of 2024, then they'll just have to keep looking.

Sophie O'Connell was cooking despite her team's loss, getting on base in all four of her plate appearances with one run and one RBI. Another player making a difference was Chloe Trimandilis, who went 2-for-4 with one stolen base and one run.

As for Norwalk, the victory was the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record up to 8-4. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 6.8 runs over those games.

On Norwalk's side, Maddie Collins spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered four earned runs on nine hits and racked up eight Ks.

On the hitting side, Zoey Wilds was incredible, going 2-for-4 with one home run, four RBI, and one double. Those four RBI gave her a new career-high. Emily Restaino was another key player, going 1-for-4 with two runs and one double.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Danbury will challenge Darien at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Norwalk, they will head out to take on Notre Dame Prep at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. The last three games the Lancers have played have been within two runs, so don't be surprised if it's a close one.
