Greene County suffers fifth straight loss on the road

Recap: Greene County Wildcats vs. Moss Point Tigers

The Greene County Wildcats's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Monday after their fourth straight loss. They took a 32-20 hit to the loss column at the hands of Moss Point. Greene County was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Tigers apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in December of 2023.

Despite the loss, Greene County saw an underclassman step up: Rakhiya Moody scored ten points along with three steals. Moody has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last five times she's played. Another player making a difference was Lillian Rau, who scored five points along with seven rebounds and two steals.

Moss Point's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Landyn Johnson led the charge by scoring 12 points along with two steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Jordyn Ford, who scored ten points along with six rebounds and four steals.

Greene County dropped their record down to 14-14 with that loss, which was their fifth straight on the road. As for Moss Point, their win bumped their record up to 12-15.

Greene County will look to defend their home court on Friday against the Rebels at 6:00 p.m. As for Moss Point, they will head out on the road to challenge the Panthers at 6:00 p.m. on Friday.
