It may have taken eight innings to finish the job, but New Kent ultimately got the result they hoped for on Monday. They had just enough and edged out the Smithfield Packers 6-5. The Trojans haven't had any issues with the Packers recently, as the game was their seventh consecutive win against them.

Kenley Rowe was excellent, going 3-for-4 with two RBI, one run, and one double. Another player making a difference was Mariah Leonard, who went 3-for-5 with two RBI and one run.

They weren't the only ones making solid contact: New Kent kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 13 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least ten hits in three consecutive matchups.

New Kent's victory bumped their record up to 13-3. As for Smithfield, with the defeat, they broke their three-game winning streak and moved their record to 9-6.

New Kent wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next contest, an 8-3 loss against York on the 6th. Smithfield has also already played their next game (against Tabb), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
