Northside had lost three games straight , but after bumping their record up to 5-14 on Tuesday that streak is in the rearview. Everything went their way against the Jones Eagles as they made off with a 13-3 win. The high-scoring effort was just what the Mustangs needed considering they were shut out in their previous contest.
Sophia Askuvich spent all six innings played on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned runs on five hits. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't given up more than two walks in 12 consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, Jilliyn Yung was incredible, going 2-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and one stolen base. That triple marked the first that she has hit this season. Jayda Rodriguez was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two runs and one double.
Northside always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .514. They are a perfect 4-0 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.
As for Jones, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 16-4. That's two games in a row now that they have lost by exactly ten runs.
