Merrimack had lost 12 straight on the road dating back to last season, but on Friday they dropped their record down to 2-15-1 to make it 13. They came up short against the Bedford Bulldogs, falling 12-2. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Tomahawks of the 14-5 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in May of 2024.
As for Bedford, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won nine of their last ten matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 14-6 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.2 runs on average over those games.
For Bedford's part, they let Nate Duquette and James Gilbert run wild. Duquette went 2-for-3 with three runs, one stolen base, and two RBI, while Gilbert went 2-for-3 with three runs, one stolen base, and one double. Gilbert continues to improve, besting his previous run total in each of the last three games he's played. Another player making a difference was Landen Frongillo, who got on base in all three of his plate appearances with three RBI.
