Baseball Recap: Bob Jones Academy Comes Up Short

Bob Jones Academy extended their losing streak (dating back to last season) to five on Tuesday, dropping their season record down to 0-3 in the process. They lost 10-3 to The Master's Academy Lions. The result was an unpleasant reminder to Bob Jones Academy of the 11-7 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in April of 2023.

As for The Master's Academy, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won eight of their last nine matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 11-2 record this season. The result was nothing new for The Master's Academy, who have now won 11 games by six runs or more so far this season.

For The Master's Academy's part, Sawyer Waugh and Matthew Herring made a big impact no matter where they played. Throwing, Waugh struck out six batters over three innings while giving up just two earned runs but no hits. Meanwhile, Herring struck out six batters over four innings while giving up just one earned run off one hit. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two hits in six consecutive appearances. At bat, Waugh went 2-for-4 with two RBI and one run, while Herring went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, one run, and one RBI. That's the most stolen bases Herring has posted since back in May of 2024.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Mason Hunter, who went 1-for-2 with two stolen bases, three RBI, and two runs. That's the most stolen bases he has posted since back in April of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Conrad Schmidt, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one double.

Bob Jones Academy does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for The Master's Academy, they will face off against Pinnacle Classical Academy at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. The Lions' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Eagles have averaged an impressive 6.2 runs per game this season.
