The West Lafayette Red Devils will head out to challenge the Delphi Community Oracles at 5:30 p.m. on Friday.

West Lafayette can't be too happy about their upcoming road match considering what happened when they opened their season away from home on Thursday. They came up short against Western, falling 13-3.

Ben Werth made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went 1-for-4 with one home run and two RBI. LJ Whitford was another key player, scoring a run and stealing two bases while going 2-for-4.

Meanwhile, Delphi Community took care of business in their home opener (and then some) on Monday. Everything went their way against Clinton Central as they made off with an 11-1 win.

Brett Huffman was a standout: he scored two runs and stole four bases while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances. Those four stolen bases gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Keygan Elliott, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-3.

Delphi Community always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .548. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Clinton Central only posted an OBP of .292.

West Lafayette skirted past Delphi Community 14-13 when the teams last played back in April of 2024. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Red Devils since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
