Softball Recap: Southwest Onslow Stallions vs. East Duplin Panthers
Southwest Onslow had lost three straight on the road, but on Tuesday they dropped their record down to 7-14 to make it four. They came up short against the East Duplin Panthers, falling 7-0. The shutout was out of character for the Stallions seeing as the last time the team failed to score was back in March.
As for East Duplin, they have been performing well recently as they've won nine of their last 12 matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 12-7 record this season. Considering they have won nine contests by more than six runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.
For East Duplin's part, the team relied heavily on Kinsey Cave, who went 2-for-4 with one triple, two RBI, and one run. That's the most hits Cave has posted since back in March. The team also got some help courtesy of Emory Raynor, who went 1-for-2 with one run and one RBI.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Southwest Onslow will square off against Jacksonville at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The Stallions are facing the Cardinals at the right time seeing as the Cardinals are stuck on a three-game losing streak. As for East Duplin, they will face off against East Bladen at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The Panthers' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Eagles have averaged an impressive 6.8 runs per game this season.
