Football Game Preview: Edinburg Bobcats vs. Veterans Memorial Chargers

The Edinburg Bobcats will challenge the Veterans Memorial Chargers at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Veterans Memorial took a loss in their last game and will be looking to turn the tables on Edinburg, who comes in off a win.

Edinburg is headed in fresh off scoring the most points they have all season. They walked away with a 42-34 victory over Edinburg North on Friday. The high-flying offensive performance was a huge turnaround for the Bobcats considering their five-point performance the contest before.

Aidden Sanchez had an outrageously good game as he rushed for 43 yards and a pair of touchdowns, and also threw for 155 yards and two TDs. What's more, he racked up 130.6 passer rating, the most he's had since back in October of 2024.

Edinburg didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off three passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of David Garza and Brandon Salinas. Moises Hernandez was another major factor on D, picking up 1.5 sacks and making 11 total tackles.

Despite a strong season so far, Veterans Memorial has seen their luck take a bit of a downturn recently. They were four points away from ending the streak, but they lost a 28-24 heartbreaker at the hands of San Benito.

Edinburg will have to contain Calvin Trevillion as he made an impact in Veterans Memorial's last game. He rushed for 180 yards and a pair of scores on only seven carries. Trevillion's longest rush was for an incredible 74 yards.

Veterans Memorial's defeat dropped their record down to 7-3. As for Edinburg, their win bumped their record up to 6-4.

Edinburg took a serious blow against Veterans Memorial when the teams last played back in November of 2024, falling 47-9. Thankfully for the Bobcats, Michael Montoya (who rushed for 103 yards and three touchdowns on only nine carries) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result?
