Trinity Christian took a three-set loss the last time they faced off against Virginia Academy, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. The Gryphons won by a set and slipped past the Patriots 3-2. This was payback for the Gryphons, who suffered a 3-0 defeat the last time these two teams met.

If you add up the scores from across all five sets (106-105) Trinity Christian actually scored fewer points, but in the end it didn't matter. The match finished with set scores of 16-25, 25-21, 25-21, 24-26, 15-13.

The victory made it two in a row for Trinity Christian and bumps their season record up to 3-1. As for Virginia Academy, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 4-6.
