Softball Recap: Elmwood Royals vs. Vanlue Wildcats
Elmwood never got on the board in their matchup last Monday, but that sure wasn't the case in their game against Vanlue on Wednesday. They were the clear victors by a 17-4 margin over the Wildcats. That 13 run margin sets a new team best for the Royals this season.
Allyie Reynolds was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she struck out seven batters over four innings while giving up just two earned (and two unearned) runs off six hits. Reynolds was also big at the plate, going 1-for-4 with two runs, one triple, and two RBI. That triple was her first of the season.
In other batting news, Elmwood got a massive performance out of Leah Allison, who went 3-for-4 with four RBI and one double. Another player making a difference was Libbie Tyson, who scored two runs while going 2-for-3.
Elmwood kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Vanlue only managed six hits.
The victory snapped Elmwood's losing streak at three games and leaves them with a 3-4 record. As for Vanlue, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 1-4.
Looking ahead, Elmwood will host Arcadia at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. The Royals' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Redskins have averaged an impressive 6.3 runs per game this season. As for Vanlue, they will head out to challenge Ridgemont at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday.
