Softball Game Preview: Mauldin Mavericks vs. Easley Green Wave

The Mauldin Mavericks will challenge the Easley Green Wave at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, these teams will really light up the scoreboard.

Mauldin is headed into Tuesday's matchup looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their third straight game on Thursday. They took an 18-14 hit to the loss column at the hands of Greenwood.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Easley). They put the hurt on J.L. Mann with a sharp 19-4 victory on Monday. The team's explosion at the plate also rewarded the Green Wave with their most commanding win of the season.

Jalyn McGee was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out nine batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits (and not a single walk). McGee was also solid in the batter's box, going a perfect 3-for-3 with two doubles. Those two doubles gave her a new career-high.

In other batting news, Camora Little was incredible, going 2-for-3 with four runs, one triple, and two RBI. Those four runs gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Journey Price, who went 2-for-4 with two stolen bases and two runs.

Easley has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five games. That's provided a nice bump to their 7-8 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.8 runs over those games. As for Mauldin, their loss dropped their record down to 1-11.
