Baseball Recap: Archbishop McNicholas Victorious

It may have taken eight innings to finish the job, but Archbishop McNicholas ultimately got the result they hoped for on Thursday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against the Edgewood Cougars, sneaking past 7-6. That's two games straight that the Rockets have won by just one run.

Archbishop McNicholas got a great performance from Nathan Kramer as he didn't allow a single earned run while striking out nine over five innings pitched. That's the most strikeouts Kramer has posted over his last five contests.

At the plate, Archbishop McNicholas' victory was truly a team effort as six different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Tatem Donels, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with one run and one double. Nick Spiegla also deserves some recognition as he brought in his first RBI of the season.

The win made it two in a row for Archbishop McNicholas and bumps their season record up to 18-8. They've had to fight for that success though, as they only beat their opponents by an average of one runs across that stretch. As for Edgewood, they moved to 14-7-1 with that defeat, which also ended their five-game winning streak.

Looking ahead, Archbishop McNicholas will be playing at home against Goshen at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Edgewood, they are taking a road trip to square off against St. Xavier at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday.
