Trenton had already proven themselves in the regular season and they didn't miss a beat now that it's playoff time. Their pitchers stepped up to hand the Jefferson Bears a 12-0 shutout on Tuesday. The Trojans might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 14 games by six runs or more this season.

Talon Vanhovel and Ashton Rooney made a big impact no matter where they played. Throwing, Vanhovel didn't allow a single earned run over four innings pitched. Meanwhile, Rooney pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. What's more, Vanhovel posted five strikeouts, the most he's had over his last three contests. At the plate, Vanhovel went a perfect 3-for-3 with one run, one double, and one RBI, while Rooney went 1-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Henrik Parish, who went 1-for-2 with two runs, one triple, and two RBI. Those two runs gave him a new career-high.

Trenton hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. The team has now struck out at least five batters in six consecutive matchups.

Trenton's victory was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 27-9. Those home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.4 runs on average over those games. As for Jefferson, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost 11 of their last 13 games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 11-20 record this season.
