Basketball Recap: Volunteer Takes a Loss

Volunteer was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They received a blow as they fell 67-48 to the Cherokee Chiefs. If the Falcons were looking for revenge after losing 65-55 to them when the teams met, then they'll just have to keep looking.

When it comes to explaining why Volunteer lost, don't look at Lucas Gilliam. Despite the final result, he went 6 of 8 on his way to 14 points and four steals. Gilliam is also on a roll when it comes to blocks, as he's now posted two or more in the last three games he's played. Another player making a difference was Griffin Head, who posted nine points.

Volunteer's defeat dropped their record down to 5-7. As for Cherokee, their win bumped their record up to 2-7.

Volunteer will be playing in front of their home fans against Sullivan East at 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Cherokee, they will venture away from home to square off against Hancock County at 6:30 p.m. on Monday.
