Preview: Canyon del Oro Dorados vs. Poston Butte Broncos

The Canyon del Oro Dorados have the luxury of staying home another week and will welcome the Poston Butte Broncos at 7:00 p.m. on November 9th. Both teams come into the match bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Last Friday, Canyon del Oro earned a 21-9 win over Walden Grove.

It was another big night for Kayden Luke, who rushed for 116 yards and a touchdown.

Another reason for the win was Canyon del Oro's imposing defense, which managed to get into the backfield for 8.5 sacks. The heavy lifting was done by Evan Greer and Grant Young who racked up five sacks between them.

Meanwhile, Poston Butte put the finishing touches on their fourth blowout victory of the season on Friday. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat Marcos de Niza 49-12 at home. Winning may never get old, but Poston Butte sure are getting used to it with their third in a row.

Poston Butte got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Michael Whitman out in front who rushed for 209 yards and two touchdowns while picking up 12.3 yards per carry. Whitman's longest rush was for an incredible 70 yards. Mason Lloyd was another key contributor, rushing for 183 yards and two touchdowns on only nine carries.

Canyon del Oro's win was their 12th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 10-0. It's not like the team was facing easy opposition over that stretch either, as it included 9-1 Mica Mountain and 8-2 Eastmark (their opponents had an average overall winning percentage of 60.4% over those games). As for Poston Butte, their victory bumped their record up to 6-4.

Keep an eye on the end zone in Thursday's game as the pair haven't had much trouble getting there this season. Canyon del Oro commands a daunting offense this season, having averaged 5.4 touchdowns per game. However, it's not like Poston Butte struggles in that department as they've been averaging 4.8 per game. With these two high-octane teams facing off on Thursday, fans should be in for an exciting offensive matchup. Come back here after the game to get analysis of the match and other football content.

Canyon del Oro came up short against Poston Butte when the teams last played back in September of 2021, falling 34-27. Thankfully for Canyon del Oro, Octavious Joe (who rushed for 232 yards and two touchdowns while picking up 11.0 yards per carry) won't be suiting up this time.
