Sugar Creek Charter and Langtree Charter Academy are an even 3-3 against one another since November of 2021, but not for long. A feisty cat fight will be fought when the Wildcats duke it out with the Lions at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The two teams have had a bumpy ride up to this point with three consecutive losses for Sugar Creek Charter and eight for Langtree Charter Academy.

Sugar Creek Charter came up into this matchup off a tough 34-point loss last Tuesday. This time they kept things ultra-competitive, but unfortunately the final result was the same. They fell just short of Jackson Day by a score of 63-60 on Friday. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest defeat the Wildcats have suffered against the Mariners since January 15, 2019.

Despite their loss, Sugar Creek Charter saw several players rise to the challenge and make noteworthy plays. Derek Thomas, who went 6 for 8 en route to 14 points and six rebounds, was perhaps the best of all. That's the most boards Thomas has posted since back in December of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Corde Harrison, who went 5 of 8 on his way to 11 points and five assists.

Meanwhile, Langtree Charter Academy was beaten by Community School of Davidson 79-39 on Tuesday. While losing is never fun, the Lions can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 452nd, while the Spartans are ranked 184th).

Langtree Charter Academy's defeat dropped their record down to 6-16. As for Sugar Creek Charter, their loss dropped their record down to 12-9.

Things could have been worse for Sugar Creek Charter, but things could have been a whole lot better as they took a 51-32 loss to Langtree Charter Academy in their previous matchup back in November of 2024.
