Volleyball Recap: Burney Comes Up Short

Burney lost against Weed on Thursday, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Saturday. The Raiders fell just short of the Cougars by a score of 2-1.

Despite the loss, Burney still got an impressive performance from Alexis Witzel, who had 23 digs, seven kills, three blocks, and two aces. Witzel is on a roll when it comes to digs, as she's now had 18 or more in each of the last nine games she's played dating back to last season. Victoria Jimenez Garcia was another key player, getting 16 digs, two aces, and one block.

Burney's defeat dropped their record down to 3-5. As for Weed, they have been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 8-3 record this season.

Burney didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 2-0 win against Westwood on the 6th. As for Weed, they have also already played their next game, a 2-1 victory against Biggs on the 6th.
