Softball Recap: White County Central Comes Up Short

White County Central was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their fifth straight loss. They took a 17-14 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Conway Christian Eagles. Even if the Bears couldn't come away with the victory, the high-scoring effort was a great turnaround for their hitters, which had struggled int the games prior.

Kenna Freeney was cooking despite her team's loss, getting on base in all five of her plate appearances with two stolen bases and three runs. She is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as she's now snagged at least one in each of the last three games she's played. Caylee Gilchrist also deserves some recognition as she scored her first runs of the season.

White County Central's defeat dropped their record down to 1-5. As for Conway Christian, their win bumped their record up to 2-0.

Looking ahead, White County Central will host South Side at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. The Hornet have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 12.6 runs per game on average), something the Bears will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Conway Christian, they will head out on the road to take on Central Arkansas Christian at 4:30 p.m. on Monday.
