Preview: Providence Pioneers vs. Austin Eagles

The Providence Pioneers will head out on the road to face off against the Austin Eagles at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Hopefully Providence focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up seven on Saturday.
Last Saturday, Providence was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap as they fell 52-46 to Borden. While losing is never fun, Providence can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Indiana basketball rankings (they are ranked 178th, while Borden is ranked 29th).
The losing side was boosted by Avery Smith, who scored 23 points along with 8 rebounds. She has been hot recently, having posted eight or more rebounds the last four times she's played. Livy Theobald was another key contributor, scoring 8 points.
Even though Austin has not done well against Brownstown Central recently (they were 1-8 in their previous nine matchups), they didn't let the past get in their way on Saturday. Austin came out on top against Brownstown Central by a score of 50-40.
The losses dropped Providence to 4-5 and Borden to 9-1.
Providence strolled past Austin in their previous matchup back in December of 2022 by a score of 65-46. The rematch might be a little tougher for Providence since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
