Basketball Recap: North Henderson Knights vs. Smoky Mountain Mustangs
North Henderson was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their 12th straight defeat. They came up short against the Smoky Mountain Mustangs, falling 54-29. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Knights this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 56-25 two weeks ago.
Smoky Mountain's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Dayritzis Chinea, who posted six points in addition to ten boards and four steals. Chinea has become a key player for Smoky Mountain: the team is 3-1 when she posts at least ten rebounds, but 4-14 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Aaliyah Voss, who had 17 points.
North Henderson's loss dropped their record down to 2-21. As for Smoky Mountain, their victory ended a seven-game drought on the road and puts them at 7-15.
Coming up, North Henderson will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against Pisgah at 6:30 p.m. Pisgah will roll in looking for their 13th straight win, something North Henderson surely won't give up without a fight. As for Smoky Mountain, they have already played their next game, a 37-32 victory against Tuscola on the 7th.
