Recap: Banner County Wildcats vs. Bayard Tigers
The Banner County Wildcats's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Saturday after their sixth straight loss. They fell just short of Bayard by a score of 41-39. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Banner County in their matchups with Bayard: they've now lost eight in a row.
Despite the loss, Banner County still got an impressive performance from Brendyn Onstott, who scored six points along with six rebounds and three steals. Another player making a difference was Nathan Clement, who scored 12 points along with eight rebounds.
Bayard's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Connor Cochran, who scored 13 points along with four steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Cochran has scored all season. Sam Ferrero was another key contributor, scoring six points along with eight rebounds and three steals.
Banner County's loss dropped their record down to 1-12. As for Bayard, their victory bumped their record up to 4-11.
Banner County's road trip will continue as they head out to face Leyton at 7:00 p.m. on January 23rd. As for Bayard, they will be playing at home against Minatare on Thursday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Nebraska (Minatare is ranked 257th, while Bayard is ranked 258th).
