Volleyball Recap: Thatcher Makes It Four in a Row at Home

It was a Battle of the Birds when Thatcher challenged Tanque Verde on Tuesday. The Eagles had just enough and edged out the Hawks 3-2. For the Eagles, this counts as revenge for the 3-1 win the Hawks walked away with the last time they faced one another back in October of 2024.

Makenzi Lunt paced Thatcher's offense, picking up eight kills. Lunt got some help from Shaylee Hughes and her 18 assists. Finally, Matti Gallett kept Thatcher's defense grounded, leading the team with five blocks.

Thatcher pushed their record up to 8-11 with the victory, which was their fourth straight at home. As for Tanque Verde, their loss dropped their record down to 13-11.

Thatcher wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next matchup, a 3-0 defeat against Valley Christian on the 2nd. As for Tanque Verde, they will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Palo Verde at 5:00 p.m. on the 13th. The Hawks are facing the Titans at the right time seeing as the Titans are stuck on a three-game losing streak.
