Basketball Recap: Cotulla Takes a Loss

If Cotulla was riding high fresh off their 60-36 takedown of Dilley last Friday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Cotulla Cowboys took a blow against the Crystal City Javelinas on Tuesday, falling 99-45. The Cowboys haven't had much luck with the Javelinas recently, as the team's come up short the last seven times they've met.

Leading Crystal City to victory were Christopher Mena and Jayden Rousseau. Mena dropped a double-double on 36 points and 15 rebounds, while Rousseau dropped a triple-double on 28 points, 12 boards, and ten steals. Rousseau has been hot for a while, having posted two or more steals the last 14 times he's played. Another player making a difference was Jordan Urrabazo, who went 6 for 12 on his way to 16 points and three steals.

Cotulla's loss dropped their record down to 9-15. As for Crystal City, their victory was their sixth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 18-7.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Cotulla has already played their next match (against Poteet), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. Crystal City will head out to challenge Natalia at 7:15 p.m. on Friday. One thing working in Crystal City's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last 12 contests.
