Preview: Manor Mustangs vs. Stony Point Tigers
Manor is 0-8 against Stony Point since November of 2016 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The Manor Mustangs will head out on the road to take on the Stony Point Tigers at 7:00 p.m. Manor is coming into the match on a six-game losing streak.
Last Tuesday, Manor was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap as they fell 52-47 to Round Rock Westwood.
Meanwhile, Stony Point didn't have too much breathing room in their matchup against McNeil on Tuesday, but they still walked away with a 41-35 win. The victory made it back-to-back wins for Stony Point.
Mary Bortels was her usual excellent self, dropping a double-double on 19 points and ten rebounds. She hasn't dropped below eight rebounds for three straight games. Another player making a difference was Naomi Ofunrein, who scored ten points along with four steals.
Manor has been struggling recently, as they've lost ten of their last 12 matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 11-17 record this season. As for Stony Point, they have been performing well recently as they've won six of their last eight contests, which provided a nice bump to their 18-8 record this season.
Manor came up short against Stony Point in their previous meeting back in December of 2023, falling 48-36. Can Manor avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
