Baseball Recap: Coastal Mississippi Homeschool Extends Winning Streak to Four

Coastal Mississippi Homeschool won the last time they faced Laurel HomeSchool and things went their way on Thursday too. The Coastal Mississippi Homeschool Wildcats put the hurt on the Laurel HomeSchool Knighthawks with a sharp 15-3 victory. The result was nothing new for the Wildcats, who have now won five games by eight runs or more so far this season.

Sam Murphy made a big impact no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out six batters over four innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off three hits (and only one walk). The dominant performance gave him a new career-high in strikeouts. He was even better at the plate, scoring three runs and stealing Two bases. while going 3-for-4. He has become a key player for Coastal Mississippi Homeschool: the team is undefeated when he posts at least two runs, but 1-2 otherwise.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Alex Moody, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-4. Noah Myers was another key player, going 2-for-4 with one double and one RBI.

Coastal Mississippi Homeschool always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .514. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Laurel HomeSchool only posted an OBP of .182.

The win was the fourth in a row for Coastal Mississippi Homeschool, bringing their record for this year to 6-2. A key ingredient in that success has been their performance when it comes to hits: they averaged an imposing 10.25 hits in those games compared to only 4.5 in the others. As for Laurel HomeSchool, they are on a four-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-3.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Coastal Mississippi Homeschool will take on Meridian HomeSchool at 2:00 p.m. on March 22nd. The contest will give Meridian HomeSchool their first taste of in-conferenceaction this season. As for Laurel HomeSchool, they will challenge Hattiesburg HomeSchool at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday. Laurel HomeSchool is facing Hattiesburg HomeSchool at the right time seeing as Hattiesburg HomeSchool is stuck on a four-game losing streak.
