League recap: Poly scores huge upset over Rancho Verde

The biggest upset of the week belonged to Rancho Verde, who took down 126th ranked Rancho Verde, 21-14. Tarique Lusk threw for 31 yards and one touchdown and ran for eight yards in the win.

JW North was the team that gained the most ground in the standings this week, jumping from seventh to fourth in Inland Valley. The Huskies defeated Vista del Lago 51-6 earlier in the week.

JW North's dynamic duo of Joseph Garcia and Marcus Baugh proved tough for the Ravens to stop, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week. Garcia threw for 149 yards and two touchdowns and Baugh had 83 yards receiving. Denzel Foster helped JW North's passing attack out by catching two balls for 40 yards.

Godfrey Freeman was the most productive running back in the league this week. In 19 carries, he ran for 146 yards as Vista del Lago beat Vista del Lago. Deandre Kite also contributed to the rushing game with 16 yards on the ground.

6-foot-2 quarterback Garcia of the Huskies is the league leader in passing yards this season with 620. He has also thrown five touchdowns. On the ground, Art Giovannini's team's Freeman has rushed for 870 yards which leads the league. The leading receiver in the league this season is Matt Murray. The Poly star has 13 catches for 337 yards.

A big matchup in Inland Valley this week will be when Arlington takes on Poly. The Lions are in first place, while the Bears are in third place.

There should be lots of points scored when Arlington and Poly face off this week. The top two offenses in the league, Pat Mccarthy's team comes in having scored 145 this season, while Jeff Huerta's team has scored 131. The Lions scored 32 points last week as they defeated Valley View.

The Bears moved up to 345 from 488 in the state rankings this week, the biggest jump in the league. Poly climbed the ranks as a result of a 21-14 win over the Mustangs.
