Basketball Game Preview: Clover Garden School Grizzlies vs. Southern Wake Academy Lions

Clover Garden School and Southern Wake Academy are an even 5-5 against one another since December of 2016, but not for long. The Clover Garden School Grizzlies will challenge the Southern Wake Academy Lions at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.

Last Friday, Clover Garden School blew past Ascend Leadership, posting a 65-36 win.

Meanwhile, it was a proper cat-fight when Southern Wake Academy faced off against Triangle Math & Science on Friday. Southern Wake Academy claimed a resounding 80-22 victory over Triangle Math & Science. Given the Lions' advantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 83rd, while the Tigers are ranked 612th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Southern Wake Academy pushed their record up to 15-4 with the win, which was their fifth straight on the road. They've dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 42.6 points. As for Clover Garden School, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four games, which provided a nice bump to their 6-7 record this season.

Clover Garden School was dealt a bruising 82-44 loss at the hands of Southern Wake Academy in their previous matchup back in December of 2024. Can Clover Garden School avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
